Bret's STS Project

Erin is letting me have a chance at bragging for a bit about  the projects that I have been working on for one of my clients STS Sports Training Supplements. For the past couple of months I have been designing a booth for them to have at the 2009 Arnold Sports Festival. This is the biggest sports expo in the nation. This year it was held in Columbus, OH. Here are a couple of shots that were taken of the booth. The photo at the end is Mike Brown and Jennifer Stano, the two main models that I worked with. More photos can be seen at the following link: STS Supplements

I know it has been a while since I posted and I'm sorry. Life sometimes gets busy and other things fall on the back burner. But here is an update of some of what has been going on...
Coulson helped Bret makes some snicker doodles to take to his teachers at church and Bret let him partake in the fruits of his labor. Boy did he love that! When he was done that beater was cleaner than if I had put it through the dishwasher!

One day Cole found a baby cue tip and was so proud that he was carrying it in his mouth like a dog! He laughed the entire time he was playing with it. I just wish I had known what was going through his head with all the things he did!

I have also been working on decorating Cole's room. I decided that he needed an actual little boy's room and since we are hoping to move him to a bed now was the perfect time to make a big deal of his new "Big Boy" room. Here are some pictures of how it turned out...

This is right above the head of his bed and I have two pictures hanging below it - one of Christ and one of Liz Lemon Swindles pictures "Even Superman Needs a Dad" any of you who know Bret understands why I have this picture.

He are the robots I got from Rosenberry Rooms. They are wall stickers and so I glued them onto foam board, modge podged them and then cut them out. I LOVE them and when Cole saw them he kept shouting "cool mommy, I like!" They add a lot of color to his room. They are about 13" tall. Did I say that I love them? Cause I really do.
This is what you would see walking into the room from the door. My amazing mother is also making him a twin bed spread to go on the bed. The last part of his room I did was Bret spray painted some square shadow boxes to go on the final wall in his room. My little sister Katy also put together some wood 3-D type puzzles to also go in his new room. You can see the motorcycle on top of the top shadow box. I still have to finish this wall but you get the idea of what his room somewhat looks like. Oh, I also did a picture frame that says "We do not remember days, we remember moments" and will put different pictures of our family fun in it.

Overall I really like it and Cole loves all of it. I wanted fun and colorful but not totally typical. I also wanted a room that could grow with Cole as he goes through all the thing that he loves (insects, dinosaurs, cars) and this way allows me to change up the room very easily without having to spend a ton of money everytime. Here's to simple, easy, cheap, and CUTE!!!!

Adventures in Pottytraining

Warning: There are pictures of an adorable child on a toilet... proceed at your own risk

Bret and I had talked about potty training Coulson several times and had decided that we would start that closer to the end of the summer. I didn't want to push him too soon, especially since boys usually start later than girls. Well, the other day when I was cooking some lunch I realized I couldn't hear Cole anymore - not a good thing EVER- so I immediately went looking for him. When I found him he was in my bathroom and this is the sight that met my eyes ...
If you can't tell, he is balancing on the edge of an open toilet, and he climbed up there all by himself with no help. When I asked him what he was doing he replied "I go potty". I know when to take a cue, so that afternoon we began potty training.
It hasn't been quite as awful as I thought it would be, but I also haven't been pushing the topic too hard. If he tells me he needs to go then we go and I'll have him go maybe every two hours but we have had some success. He has also deiced that he is "too big" for diapers and prefers pull ups which he is really good at not peeing in too often. Let's hope this keeps up. I would love to not have him in diapers anymore.

Snowmobiling

This weekend our family went up to the family cabin for a relaxing weekend with Bret's family. Only we played so hard on Saturday that any R&R went out the window and we all came home tired ready for another weekend of R&R!!! Funny how that works. It was a great weekend though. We headed up Friday and just chilled with the family. On Saturday the fun began. Bret and I got to take Cole snowmobiling for the very first time and HE LOVED IT! That's my boy. We spent most of Saturday out in the snow, playing, snowmobiling and we even tied a sled to the end of one of the snowmobiles and Ray dragged Bret and Cole. Bret said that Cole laughed the entire way! We also took Riley and Austin with us. Riley like just sledding down the hills (the snowmobile was too fast for him) but he was a trooper going up and down the hill to sled. Austin didn't want anything to do with any of it but had a good time just chilling with Grams. We also got to see to moose right out the cabin door on Friday night. It was a fun time. Sadly, we forgot to take pictures. By 7pm Saturday night we had 3 very exhausted boys! They slept really well that night. Sunday we headed home for church. It was a great weekend.
